Assignment 1.12

Paraphrased from "Longing to Belong" paragraph 9

My aunt was unique as they came. She was not afraid to stand her ground against my uncle’s family and their outdated Islamic customs. She had decided to help intervene on my behalf. Once she made up her mind, she marched straight into the small room where my uncle’s wife was praying and told her that the dear distant cousin had made improper advances over the telephone and the engagement was off. As my uncle’s wife lost her high ground, she made a sound as if she were a wild animal stuck on a short leash

  1. You did a GREAT job of paraphrasing this! Everything is in your owns words and sentence structures, and I love the way you described the "sharp inhuman sound that sounded almost like a bark" as a "wild animal stuck on a short leash" It's a very vivid description!!

  3. This is excellent! I could clearly remember this part of the story from the reading but knew the words were very different. As Lainey mentioned before, I liked your take on the "bark" sound as that of a "wild animal stuck on a short leash". You have a very creative imagination to have come up with that! Great job!
