I don't know if I did this right, but I took a stab at it anyhow.....
The houses in which we lived were either near or on the campus. They were all elegantly old homes which featured high ceilings, hardwood floors, and smoky fireplaces. You only saw fires in the smoky fireplace when occasions occurred at the house such as when dad held court on Friday afternoons or Saturday evenings with junior faculty and grad students whom always appeared nervous, or, when mother held dinner parties at the home for the chairman of the department, the dean, or even sometimes a visiting poet. During these occasions at the house, I was always the only child and a lonely one at that. All I ever thought about was how much I wanted a dog so I wouldn't appear to be so lonely.

When you paraphrase, you restate information written in a text using your own words and sentence structures, right? If I'm correct then it looks like you did fine! There are a few grammatical errors, but you pretty much stayed away from using the same words. I have *such* as hard time paraphrasing, it's harder than it looks because the author typically has the most concise way of explaining themselves! You did way better than I would have. Good Job :)
ReplyDeleteI read your paraphrasing then read the actual paragraph. You did a great job like Lainey said just a few errors but overall like it a lot. It is very hard to do. I am having issues with mine.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other two, you did do a nice job with the paragraph. I feel the paraphrasing is a little difficult because you can't rewrite a lot of the paragraph because the material would lose its meaning. I found myself using synonyms so that the paragraph still had the same meaning but were my words. Good job though!
ReplyDeleteThat was a rather descriptive paragraph that the author gave and you summed it up nicely. It flowed well.
ReplyDeleteI think you met the objective here--this is a decent paraphrase. One question though--which paragraph are you paraphrasing? Not sure after reading this.
